Workshop Tools

1. What is the name of the hammer most commonly used in Automotive engineering? T
he most commonly used hammer is a Ball Pein or engineer's hammer.

2. What would you typically use one for? You use the flat head to hit a chisel or a punch the other end you  can use for flattening, or peining a rivet. Hammer should match the job always better to have a bigger hammer then a smaller one

3. Why would you use a soft faced hammer? If u need to hit or tap something in to place that is a softer metal then steel.

4. What type of hammer would you use to give a really strong blow to a chisel? For a strong blow to a chisel you should use the lump hammer it is the heaviest hammer that can be used with one hand.

5. What would you use a mallet for in Automotive Engineering? To move something into place and seeing as it has a rubber head u will not damage as you do so.

6. When would you use a dead blow hammer? When u need one good solid hit.

7. What can cause a hacksaw blade to clog? When the blade is inserted the wrong way so the metal it is cutting cant get free as the teeth have a high pitch them.

8. What can happen if the blade is too coarse for the job it is intended for? The saw teeth can be stripped away.

9. What should you do before and after using a hacksaw? Before u should make sure the blade is tensioned right and after it should be loosened to stop the frame from distorting.
